Actions and faith only

Natalia, Kyiv:

“Feelings of guilt weaken, and feelings of responsibility encourage action”, psychologists say.

Daria, Kropyvnytskyi:

The situation here is under control.  Kropyvnytskyi meets many refugees, and my family helps people from territorial defence. The enemy is psychologically oppressive: there are many fakes on the Internet that weaken the national spirit, but we have to hold on.

Sofa, Mykolaiv:

We have a hard situation, but our soldiers courageously do not let enemies into the city. Our governor has become a TikTok star due to the fact that he treats the situation with humour, this person gives peace of mind to each of us.

Yesterday we had our first civilian casualties: a young guy and a woman. It’s very sad, but every day I stop feeling sad, I’m just terribly angry at everything that happens, I don’t understand why the world doesn’t stop these people, why brave Ukrainians have to die. I am immensely grateful to one and all. I must admit that before I did not consider myself a patriot, but I realized how much I love my country and the people who live here. Glory to Ukraine!

Alina, Ukraine:

Today I was forced to leave my home. Because now near my city in Kyiv oblast is a lot of russian attacks and my family decided to go to the West of Ukraine. It was a hard decision for us. We took only some bags and left all life in our house. I don’t care about myself, but it’s heartbreaking to understand that my friends still are in danger. These 11 days of our reality is another life. And I hope that all this hell may soon be over.

Anastasia, Ukraine:

I stayed in my house in a small town near Kyiv with my family. It’s calm here now, so we don’t panic. And we have a cellar in our yard where we can hide. At the beginning it was hard to go down with all our pets, but now they used to go down by themselves. It’s hard for me to realize that such thing as war can exist in the 21st century. More than 10 days we live in fear, darkness and aggression. But I’m proud of being Ukrainian and living in our country. We should remain humans in any situations, but when I start thinking about killed children and adults, my heart breaks and tears appear on their own. I hope that this horror will end soon and quickly, with good news for us. Victory is ours! Please all, take care of yourself

Anastasiia, Kyiv but currently Laramie (Wyoming, USA):

The war caught me 10,000 kilometres from home, from my family. Initial reaction: shock and fear. All that happens after – diligence and strength. To advocate to Ukraine where I am, to reinforce public pressure on the government, to be a support for my parents and siblings, to comfort grandparents, to raise awareness on my homeland in the US. No tears, no emotions on public. Actions and faith only.
