What rescues you? What helps you think reasonably?

Sasha. Ukraine:

My rescue is my family. They are my motivation, support and sense of life. I like to spend time with them, but today it is more valuable for my than ever. In conditions of war you completely understand that except family and freedom you don’t need anything.

Olga, Ukraine:

OUR FUTURE VICTORY

Nazar, Ukraine:

To do everything what I can do! Motivation to work what I can that helps me think reasonably

Yara, Ukraine:

Throughout the last week, I have created a new routine. That has helped me a lot. If possible, I think it’s vital to try to be present in a mindful way right now. We’ve all been present for the last month but through reading news constantly and trying to hear whether something is happening around. I think we have to try our best to add even a bit of mindful moments to our lives right now. For instance, I’m trying to get back to stretching or doing yoga in the morning, which is what I’ve been doing first thing in the morning for years. But one of my favourite parts of the day now is having a meal with my family, especially breakfast. Other things that help me stay grounded are studying and taking walks in nature with my mom.

Victoria, Ukraine:

I have a lot of ideas of what to do these days, but it’s really hard to start. Today I made a manicure for my mom. Thanks, God, I took my order with new gels and staff for design right before the war. I’ve downloaded an app, “Yakaboo”, so I’ve got free access to books. I wanted to read something about mental health, so here I am. Also, I try to do little exercises because I’ve read that daily sport can make me feel better. I’s time to take care of mental state, because nobody knows what war will leave in our heads.

Describe the perfect film about the Russian-Ukrainian war. Genre and what characters would you like to see? You haven’t answered the previous question, perhaps you know what the main character is like or the villain (nowadays’Voldemort)

Dmytro, Ukraine:

The thing is that nobody, I think, wants to think now about the film about this war. Today, nobody even knows whether we will be alive or dead. IMHO, I don’t want to see any of the characters of “nowadays political live” because personally, I am fed up with this topic. The beat option for me now is to go to rebuild our cities and forget about these days for a long time, until it becomes a part of our history books

Sofa, Mykolaiv:

I don’t really like war films, but still I think it should be a realistic film.  I think the plot should be about an ordinary family that woke up at 6 in the morning from the terrible news about the beginning of the war.  I think the husband should go to the front, and the wife should become a volunteer.  And I’m just sure that the end of this film should be happy.

Valeria, Kyiv:

Truthfully, I have never watched films like that. So I cannot imagine main characters. The only thing I can say is the genres (I think, we can combine some) are thriller, historical and action.

And yeah, everywhere I see how current events compare to Harry Potter, namely the last battle with Voldemort. Maybe, we can say that, but I haven’t read Harry Potter, so… I can’t say it.

Valeria, Kyiv:

I thought about characters. And I guess, the main characters from us would be our President, of course, Arestovich (he is considered to be our crush) and Vitaliy Kim. They do everything they can, calm us down with their statements, videos etc. And also we have memes with them and I guess they will be for a long time.

Julia, Ukraine:

I know nothing about war movies, so it’s hard for me to imagine. The only thing I’m sure about is that this movie must show that every russian is guilty.

Marharyta, Ukraine:

Ukrainian producer, Ahtem Seitablayev, has some films on theme of war. And one of them is called “Cyborgs. Heroes never die”. Cyborgs  are the defenders of Donetsk airport, the fighting for which took place from the end of May 2014 and lasted until the end of winter 2015. So, as you can understand the film is based on real events, about which must be aware of every Ukrainian.

Natalia, Kyiv:

On a Creative Writing course, I have always told my students that we share with the world exactly what we have inside. We need to teach ourselves to respect the world and people even if we have not been respected by somebody close, we should not copy their disgusting attitude. If we are loved and admired, we love people around us, we appreciate and respect them, because we have it. We listen to people with attention, we offer our help to everyone who needs it. In case that we are aware of ignorance and carelessness from parents, we will hesitate in our value, the lack of love and attention will bring doubts and low self-respect, we will try to prove the world that we are worth being loved and respected.

We all read articles about criminal mind, some of us watch serials with the same name, and we remember that sometimes nurture is more important than nature, what means that people who were abused become abusers. Under-loved (sounds like undercooked, the sense is very close), people share their unlove (or dislike) with the world. They can not believe that they can be loved, because their mothers did not love them, and as the consequences they demonstrate their loath to the world.

Of course, I ask my students not to be offended to their parents, if they think they were under-loved, I persuade them to use this experience in writing. My slogan was: as more traumas we had, as better writers we are. But now I digress, these young people are going through and suffering so much, that I began to hesitate if we need to talk about grief and disaster. Otherwise, I think we should talk and analyse everything what happened to us, being a writer means to dig to the core. Nothing happens by chance. Everything means something, and I am not a fatalist. I will think more about it.

Back to Creative Writing lessons, I want ta say that even if we are broken and have some flaws, we should direct our energy in a peaceful direction. We should write a novel and kill an abuser on the pages of our book, several times.

And we should be better parents for our children, it does not matter how good we were brought up. All we need is love. Listen to The Beatles.
