If we know that we have a choice, we are free

If we know that we have a choice, we are free
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Telegram

Freedom is a human achievement, we are born to be free, even more it is our value. It is obvious that free people bring up and raise free people with a broad outlook and ability to create, not to destroy. Air and spirit of freedom is everywhere, we feel it, we know it and of course we can not imagine our life without it. Once having tried, we will never forget this feeling. And now, when our freedom and life are being infringed upon, do we even more understand the value of freedom.

Victoriia Dzhim, Kyiv:

As I see it, freedom is a condition when people can fully use their human rights and be safe and sound with it. I think, that freedom is given to us as when we enter our lives, but some people get sick and tired of trying to win it back, as it happens with our country thought all the history.

Maryna Yanovska, Lviv:

I guess my idea of freedom changed after the 24.02.

Before, I thought that it’s enough to be safe and sound (in every way, including an ability to express yourself through speech, clothes, etc). But now I consider those things as basics. And freedom to me is a total independence, which can only be got with fighting for it.

Julia Krasiy, Kyiv:

Freedom is different for everyone, as we are looking from our own perceptions. To me, it is the ability to build a life slowly and surely without strict restrictions. And, of course, for me freedom is to be a Ukrainian.

Artem Sereyan, Ukraine:

To me, freedom is when you live your life you want to and when you are doing what you like. I have always been sick and tired of people trying to impose me on how to live and what to do, now russia is trying to do it with my country, but  I do believe that sooner or later evil will be defeated.

Yaryna Travnikova, Ukraine:

Freedom for me is to be ready, sooner or later, to take responsibility for the choice, to be ready to make that choice.

Freedom is all about being safe and sound, to have this independence in life and to be able to build it in peace and quiet.

Dasha Dikova, Ukraine:

For me, freedom considering the current conditions is an opportunity to live safe and sound, plan my life and make my decisions about the future. I believe that sooner or later we all will get our freedom back, as we know how to fight for it slowly and surely.

Валерія Hodosevich, Kyiv:

Freedom is essential in every sphere of our lives. It has ups and downs, but it’s not peace and quiet. Freedom is about ourselves, about loving whoever you want, about being relaxed, about saying different things and not be judged, and, of course, it’s about making choices. So that, freedom is that feeling safe and sound

Mariia Ponomaryova, Berlin:

Inner freedom is when you are able with calm soul at some situations, just touch and go. In fact, it means that you are ready to make deceive actions and understand that you will not always be in situations of safe and sound

Яна Bereznyak, Kyiv:

Freedom has several levels to me. The most essential and the least controllable is a freedom of thinking, which has to be absolutely unlimited. The next level is freedom of what you say. And the third level is freedom of your actions. I believe that the basic notion, by which freedom has to be regulated, is “Your freedom ends where the freedom of another person starts”. Your freedom is limited by freedom of another person. Every rule can be more or less acceptable, if it enables people to use human rights and stay safe and sound.

Marharyta Yanets, Berlin:

Freedom is the most valuable thing that a person can have in life. Nevertheless, the lack of freedom in the 21st century is still a significant problem.  Freedom to me means taking responsibility for actions and words, as well as being able to express opinion.

All Ukrainians are sick and tired of russians’ stupidity and their inability to freely express their opinion.

Halia Kunashuk, Poltava

For me freedom is respect for human rights. And it doesn’t mean just to be safe and sound. I see freedom as democracy, freedom of speech, thinking, expressing yourself, ability to protect your human rights, express your opinion, even if it is different from the views of your authority. And last but not least, freedom is independence.

Gleb, Kyiv

Freedom can be too different. In every aspect of a person’s life, freedom can manifest itself in different ways and have more or less significance in a particular situation. Important political freedom, social freedom, psychological freedom, physical freedom, freedom of choice, freedom of law, freedom of movement, freedom of speech, etc. For me, freedom is to do what I want, as I want, with whom I want, when I want, but without violating the comfort and freedom of other subjects of society.

Sophia Ilchuk, Ukraine

Freedom is a key for happy and vibrant existence. That is why we have to keep democracy and fight with all corruption accidents and violence by police.

Dmytro Buhta, Ukraine:

Freedom to me means to have an opportunity to live in an open society and to be honest, as the history shows, sooner or later every totalitarian regime dies, what proves that I am not the only one

I’m sick and tired of people who are constantly having all the freedom in the information sphere but at the same time don’t want to check any of the information they operate

Arseny Vyshnevsky, Ukraine:

It’s the ability to express your personal thoughts without censor.

People who don’t have access to freedom in the world, sooner or later will feel sick and tired because of restrictions.

For me, freedom is freedom of choice. Do what you want and how you want. But sooner or later, this could lead to chaos, so freedom shouldn’t go beyond the law. It’s a pity that our big neighbours don’t know what freedom is
