Probably music is exactly the art that is our integral part of life that does not leave us even during the hours of war,  it always sounds and is the soundtrack of our life. Sometimes we hear some piece from a musical composition, and we remember something in the past that are now associated with those events. And that’s what’s interesting, what kind of music will be our soundtrack of today’s events.

Yaryna Travnikova:

Lately I’ve been listening to Jamal’s song “The Price of Truth”. This song is very heartfelt because it is about the price our people are paying now, it is about the truth we are fighting for.

Victoriia Dzhim:

Talking about a particular piece of music, I cannot name one. I started to listen a lot to Ukrainian musicians and my the most beloved one is the Kalush. I’m in love with the songs “Додому” and “Зорі”. They are so peaceful.

Marharyta Yanets:

Today soundtracks of my life are songs of Ghostly Kisses. These are kind of melancholic music. As there are too much chaos and unpredictability in life nowadays I feel the need to find peace inside myself. This music is exactly what I need.

Julia Krasii:

SadSvit is a young Ukrainian artist and I guess that his songs can be called the soundtrack of my current life. His album “Cassette” is about some youthful experience and I can’t help but feel a little sad but also expectant. I had those experiences, now life has changed, and I can’t wait to have them all again.

Dasha Dikova:

I guess I can name Andriy Hlyvnuk’s interpretation of Ukrainian folk song as a soundtrack of these days. Firstly, I hear it very often from everywhere: on the streets, radio, social media, etc. and secondly I really liked this piece because it introduced Ukrainian culture to the whole world and raise our national spirit.

Maryna Yanovska:

The most refreshing song that plays a great role in my life those days is “Dance and drink” by Zwyntar. Let’s say it’s lyric is in a way too understandable and it’s quite easy to relate yourself to it..

Artem Sergeyan:

The soundtrack of my life is “Disorder” by Joy Division. It accurately represents everything happening in my life and all absurdity it has in it. This is the only song which I have been listening almost daily for a lot of years, and it’s still not boring.  A true piece of art.

Yana Bereznyak:

The soundtrack of my life today is a song of the Ukrainian band “Sky” (Скай), which is called “Not get back and not to give up” (“Не відступати і не здаватись”). It seems to me this soundtrack was written during the war, and when I feel too peaceful, it reminds what is going around. It motivates me to do something and tells me, “You are also the part of that nation. It depends on you, too”

Valeria Hodasevich:

From first day of war I return to listen to music almost everyday. It makes me feel alive. It’s with me through every mood. And now I have some songs associated with war. I cannot choose one of these songs ’cause there are really a lot of them. But I want to share one track of our Ukrainian band Antytila with British signer Ed Sheeran, who supports us. The song is named 2step. And it’s an incredible thing

Halia Kunashuk:

From beginning of the war the last album of Ukrainian folk-metal group Tin’ Sontsia ”The Thorny Path” (“Тернистий шлях”) has become a soundtrack for my life. All the news, the whole my situation started corresponding to this music. When the album was released, I didn’t pay great attention to it. But just before the war, and now it has acquired a new important sense for me. The collection of strong, powerful Ukrainian songs with patriotic metaphorical texts is extremely necessary now to survive morally and realise our real condition. This music raises our moral power to struggle for our freedom.

Sophia Ilchuk, Tenerife:

My sound for today is track The XX-Islands, because  I live on the island now and partly have feelings, same to feelings described in this song.

Dmytro Buhta:

If we take this war as a war, I would personally choose a song of Okean Elzy named Човен or The Boat as a soundtrack. This group became a real discovery for me because I had stopped listening to their songs a long ago and when I decided to try one more time I discovered that they improved a lot, especially in terms of the quality

Arseny Vyshnevsky:

My soundtrack for today is the «City of spring» Elza’s Ocean. Calm motive and the faith in the best which is the leitmotif instils hope and confidence in our future.

Polina Kondrateva:

I think many Ukrainians have an individual playlist called “spring 2022” or “ours” or “unbreakable” and there are a lot of ukrainian music, from the old ones and historical to the newest. But as for me, “Bude Vesna” is a great new track from Max Barskih that show all the feelings of Ukrainians like : “they are trying to break us, but in any case, despite the grievousness of the situation, we will stay strongly and protect our homeland, idea, culture and freedom. We are united.”

Sasha Melnyk:

I have listened to the song “Another love” of Tom Odell long before the war. Today it acquired another meaning for me. This song is a pain of all Ukrainians.

Daria Ivchenko:

During the first month of the war I couldn’t even imagine listening to music because it felt to be so unnatural and artificial. Then I discovered the feeling of great desire to listen to Ukrainian authors and musicians. One of the most magnificent is the song: “Easy” (“Легко”) by Artistka Chuprynenko. Also, I fell in love with the music of DahaBraha (ДахаБраха) and ТНМК “The History of Ukraine in Five Minutes” (Історія України за 5 хвилин)

Daryna Petlushenko:

For me, music during the war is something very patriotic that can lift the fighting spirit and convey the emotions and feelings of the people. One of such songs is “Ой у лузі червона калина”, which, in my opinion, became the second anthem of Ukraine.

Anastasia Lukyanenko:

I think my soundtrack would be a little disturbing with acceleration or amplification of a sound. For me the song «Втома» by Ann Kovtun describes my feelings the best. It easily gets stuck in my head and makes me think about important things.

Victoria Yurchenko:

For some reason, since the beginning of the war I have not been able to listen to music properly and I stopped liking the music I was listening to before. But now I have a great desire to discover more Ukrainian music. I like what I am discovering.

Olga Slipchenko:

During the war music help me to cope with stress, but also I can be overwhelmed with emotions of both joy and sorrow. Sometimes the mood is like a pendulum, swinging from one end to the other. And the music which I hear without listening it, just in my head it is «Додому» by KALUSH and Oy U Luzi Chervona Kalyna by THE KIFFNESS. The first one describe my feelings that I can’t be home, but I remember how well there and the second one shows Ukrainian spirit and how we will overcome all adversity.
