How the war impacts our young generation life and what consequences we will have. Of course, it is almost impossible to predict, but we need to analyse and foresee the effects, so nothing goes unnoticed.
Julia Krasii:
It is extremely hard and painful to think of consequences that war will bring. Children are the most vulnerable people, it is easy to hurt and traumatize them, and I guess that this is happening right now.
Anxiety and constant (or periodic) fear of war happening again will chase us and them. I guess the younger generation may have difficulties with understanding that the world is not always black and white, not always good or bad, because current circumstances are just like this—simple as black and white and no in-betweens.
Unstable morality and questioning the sense of life and world organisation are waiting for the younger generation, sadly.
While we had time to catch the beauty of life and thoughtfully realise that, some children start the conscious life with fear, terror, and running way.
Nevertheless, how bad these consequences may seem, I am sure that there are many positive results to be achieved in the future. First, this generation will be well-aware of our relationships with so-called “brotherly nation”. It’s unlikely that they would like to befriend people who took their careless childhood times. Secondly, they will grow into patriotic and critical individuals, who will eager to build a good life for themselves, because they truly deserve it.
All in all, good and bad are two sides of one coin, of our future generation, and I’m sure that will proudly get through this.
Daria Ivchenko:
We will lay our soul and body for the cherished freedom.
Cossack blood will raise the nation of the joyous people.
Today is the sixty-seventh day of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Because the war did not begin on February 24 but has been ongoing for eight years, there are numerous political and historical reasons for it.
For centuries, Ukrainians were exiled to Siberia, starved to death, and slaughtered for defying the government. But this war would not have occurred if Russia had not been trapped in a murderous Soviet past twenty-two years ago. Russia retreated while the world progressed. The Chechen wars should have served as a warning to the rest of the world about how to deal with political issues in a country headed by a madman. But Putin’s reluctance to see us as a sovereign nation contributed to the opposite outcome. In just a few days, Russia has lost not just unparalleled personnel and technological losses, but also hundreds of billions of dollars and has become a diplomatic and economic pariah, swiftly emulating North Korea.
Unfortunately, we also have our miscalculations. The signing of the Budapest Memorandum, in which Ukraine gave up the world’s third nuclear capacity in exchange for non-aggression, is perhaps the most crucial. However, we are now protecting not just our own independence and freedom, but also the freedom and independence of Europe. In terms of the war’s future outcomes, we will undoubtedly win. We are starting a counteroffensive in some regions and holding the defence as the active period of the battle, probably, comes to the end. All of our occupied cities will be liberated, and the entire world will yearn to visit Ukraine. As for the global world, it will be different, both in the West and in the East. This war has changed a lot.
Undoubtedly, Ukrainians will take revenge for all the dead, the living, and the unborn. We will win, we will survive, we will revenge.
Sophia Smirnova:
Who among us, a week before the start of the war, could have thought that our lives would soon change radically, that our homes and cities would be destroyed, that our friends and acquaintances would die at the hands of our “neighbours”?
All my life I considered the Russians our friends. My dad is Russian, and my grandfather was a colonel in the army of the Soviet Union. I could not even think that these people could do this to my country.
Reasons for the war? Well, I’m not very good at politics, and of course I don’t have exact data on why this happened. But I know for sure that people who go unpunished will do worse every day. Russia has committed many crimes not only against Ukraine, but also against many other countries. Georgia, Chechnya, Japan, Moldova, this list can be continued for a very long time. The world community turned a blind eye to the atrocities of Russia for years, and because of this, these terrible people felt like the masters of the world and came to destroy our home.
The EU and NATO could have taken many steps towards Russia a very long time ago, but for reasons unknown to me, they did not do this before and do not do this now.
Of course, the sanctions that the world has imposed against Russia will hit the economy of this country hard, but is that enough? There will be no branded underpants in Russia as long as children die in Ukraine. Personally, these sanctions mean nothing to me.
Consequences of the war? It is difficult to answer this question. I am sure that Ukraine will win this war and our country will become even better than before, but it will not be soon. Many of my peers want to return to Ukraine and live their former lives, but they do not understand that such a life will no longer exist. Ukraine does not need web designers and philologists, Ukraine needs builders and carpenters. Our country will need hands that will rebuild it, not words that will advertise it. Ukrainian women will have to give birth to 3-5 children in order to revive the nation. Our men will drink and take drugs a lot, because war breaks the human psyche. We have a lot of work to do, but I’m sure we can do it.
In the end, I want to say that I can not come to terms with this war. Who can start a war for “peace”, this is stupid and not humane. My views have changed and I no longer feel kindness and understanding towards the Russians, as before this war. I know that each of them will answer for their actions and words before the law and before God. Each of them will be punished. Good always triumphs over evil.
Glory to Ukraine.
Oleksandra Melnyk:
The worst thing that could happen in the 21st century is war. Unfortunately, it came to our home. Today we live in a new reality where all people in Ukraine protect their freedom and fight for their independence. This time gives a possibility to rethink priorities and understand what is the most valuable for us in our life.
What did provoke this situation in our country? The main cause is the dumbest desire of russian president to destroy Ukrainian nation from the world. Actually, he didn’t estimate our fortitude and unbreakable character. The next one is restoration of the Soviet Union and the russian Empire in general. Fortunately, it is impossible because we live in a modern society in which rules democracy and humanity. And the last cause is enrichment at the expense of Ukrainian industry and fertile lands. As we know, Ukraine has good weather conditions and a lot of different minerals and raw materials. Besides, our county is a source of an awesome nature and beautiful places.
In my opinion, this war will have some consequences. First things first, we will surely win this terrible and unfair fighting. Even now, all the world sends their support and help for us in this difficult time. In the future, we will never hear that we are a part of russia because we show to everyone that we so different and have other views on the life. Moreover, our nation will be one of the strongest and most powerful among European countries. I’m sure that we will rebuild destroyed cities as Mariupol, Kharkiv, Bucha, Irpen and so on in better and more amazing ones where people will live their happy and free life. It seems to me that Ukraine deserves such a future and nothing else is given!
In conclusion, I want to say that in such difficult time, I realized even more how much I love my country and its incredible people. I began to appreciate every minute of my life alone and with close ones. I want to wish all Ukrainians only a peaceful sky, victory over rashism and a bright and carefree future.
Anastasia Lukyanenko:
Today we live in such different reality, Ukrainians keep fighting for their freedom, their homes and lives because of decision of president of Russia Vladimir Putin and Russians, who are supporting him. Russia is the aggressor, which attacks us in our own land and wants to enslave us. I am strongly sure, that such people as Vladimir Putin and Aleksandr Lukashenko shouldn’t be allowed to the authority, because they cannot decide political issues with words. But we can fight, we have freedom of speech and freedom in our hearts. That’s why we`ll win, because we know the truth.
Firstly, when war began in Ukraine on 24 February, we were shocked, but we also started to understand the main reasons of this. The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, was so frightened because of our desire to join NATO and EU, that`s why he doesn’t want us to unite with them. Russia is going all out in decimating Ukraine. It wants to wreck the country to such an extent that it doesn`t even think of joining the Western camp. According to his words, Putin, instead, wants to install a pro-Russian government in Ukraine. But we all know the implications of joining us the USSR, and we definitely don’t want to go back to this regime. Now the military of Ukraine and most of civilians are fighting in their cities to prevent that from happening. They are going to rallies with cry of: “Glory to Ukraine, Glory Heroes!” and saying they don`t want to be Russia.
Secondly the Russian authorities is justified by the “demilitarization” and “de-Nazification” that, as they think, are happening in our country. They want to save Russian-speaking people in Ukraine, who can be harassed by nationality in our country. The truth is that this is just an excuse to cover their dirty, but real targets. Now, because of the consequences of such decisions, so many cities, such as Mariupol, Irpin, Bucha, Kherson and others are all destroyed by russian military. All civilian`s houses, hospitals, schools, shops and businesses are also damaged. There is an incredible number of civilians, who are brutally murdered in their houses or on the way to get safe places. On my opinion, we must keep saying the truth about what is going on in our country and keep asking NATO to close the sky for our safety.
Thirdly Russia cooperates with Belarus and choses it as Russian`s ally. Together they transport of ammunition and equipment. They also plan to take over the whole Ukraine. Because of support of other countries, Russia can last longer and be temporarily stronger. Unfortunately, they don`t think about our kids, who are injured because of bomb explosions or are hiding with their parents in bomb shelters. We should persuade other countries to take our side and help us. Many of them have already been helping us, especially Poland. Everyone is on our side.
All wars are crucial, destroying and have irreversible consequences. Some families can`t be together anymore, some families cannot return to their houses. But if we don`t stop with a fighting, if we don`t lose our hope and believe, if we as a nation unite, we will win and will rebuild our cities, homes, we`ll return Crimea and will celebrate the next Eurovision there, all together.
Olga Slipchenko:
The war… Three letters and so much pain, grief, tears and cruelty in this word. When we heard this word before, we immediately remembered the stories of grandparents or great-grandparents about how they defend the homeland from fascist invaders. But now, in the 21st century, we, Ukrainians, feel all this horror from our own experience.
For eighty-two days, Ukraine has been holding back the invasion of russian troops. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, Moscow hoped to maintain its influence in the CIS and the supply of cheap gas. Ukraine inherited from the USSR almost a million-strong army and a nuclear arsenal in the world, but Kyiv refused missiles, transferring them to Russia in exchange for economic assistance and security guarantees, signing the Budapest Memorandum of 1994. While the West did not reciprocate Kyiv and was not going to integrate them into its structures , the reaction of the russia was restrained. The first conflict happened in 2003 when, under the leadership of Putin, russia began to build a dam in the Kerch Strait. Ukraine has set a course for economic rapprochement with the EU. In the summer of 2013, the Russian Federation began to exert massive pressure on Kyiv, almost cutting off Ukrainian exports at the border. The Yanukovych government has suspended preparations for signing an association agreement with Brussels. In March 2014, Russia annexed Crimea. This was a turning point, the beginning of an undeclared war. At the same time, Russian and local paramilitary structures provoked an outbreak of separatism in the Donbass, “people’s republics” were proclaimed in Donetsk and Luhansk. In February 2022, Russia recognized the independence of the “DNR” and “LNR”. President Putin signed decrees allowing troops to enter Ukraine. On February 24, Russia started the war.
The Russian authorities, or rather to call them racists, are rejecting the fact of their attack on Ukrainian lands, and the president of «unwashed russia» has programmed people, saying that this is their country being defended, so a special military operation is needed. This monster is completely out of his mind. He wants to be the owner of all fertile lands, instead of bringing order to his country. However, even he does not need the swamp in which he belongs. The result of this invasion are not just horrible, but inhuman. This war – is a systematic and consistent destruction of the Ukrainian people, their identity and deprivation of their right to self-determination and independent development. Daily mass killings, abductions, deprivation of liberty, torture, rape of women and children, executions, destruction of civilian infrastructure, and the use of famine are all consequences for which Ukrainians will have to pay for a long time. The impact of the war is felt around the world, in part due to rising food prices in a number of countries from natural gas to wheat and cotton.
We can’t be silent, we NEVER forgive. We have always fought, are fighting and will fight for our independence, as in different periods of Ukrainian history. Uphold democratic values and freedom. Today we are free to create our future. We have shown the whole world that we are a nation of unconquered, strong in spirit, worthy, free descendants of the glorious Cossack family.
An essay: Causes and Consequences of the War
Kateryna Poshukailo:
War is typically fought by a country or group of countries against an opposing country or group with the aim to achieve an objective through the use of force. Wars have been a part of human history for thousands of years. Such a type of conflict can cause devastating, awful consequences of future generations and the world as a entire.
There is rarely one single, clear cause of conflict and, ultimately, war. The causes of a war are usually numerous and can often be intertwined in a complicated way. For instance, territorial gain might be a cause of war. A vivid example of this can be seen in a war that begin 3 months ago in our motherland. Such cause means that a country might decide that it needs more land, either for living space, agricultural use, or other purposes.
Another cause of war can be Economic gain. In modern times, the resources that are hoped to be gained from war take the form of things like oil, minerals, or materials used in manufacturing. Whatever the other reasons for war may be, there is very often an economic motive underlying most conflicts, even if the stated aim of the war is presented to the public as something nobler.
Talking about the consequences of the war we can point out that first and foremost it`s the massive killing of civilians. No matter if it was accidentally or deliberately. Also, because of fighting a lot of territory of the country may be polluted by mines or other dangerous ammunition. Such items can cause severe injuries and be dangerous for many years after the end of a war.
To sum up, it may be seen that wars are caused due to several factors which include material and ideological causes. The material causes of war are the most pronounced since ancient times up to date. But the effects of the wars are just similar which includes the loss of life, properties, and the general economic slowdown.
Tatyana Kordiyaka:
War is a violent act aimed at people and acts of destructive nature concerning the material values of people in a particular country. Today, such a affected area is Ukraine, which is suffering from violence by Russia. The main causes of the war are political games of Russian politicians, illusions, imaginary “independent world” with new conquered territories in the 21st century, theft of foreign history, language, culture, such ideas are caused by serious mental disorders. Literacy, wisdom and civilization are about resolving any issues peacefully.
The first major reason for the war is the conquest of territory, to create a “Second World”, which may exist separately. Such notions date back to the 1940s, when the two conditional worlds, the United States and the Soviet Union, competed instead of uniting and compromising. Since then, the main goal of Russian politicians has been to conquer half of the world, which is passed down from generation to generation. As a result of unhealthy ideas about the “Second World” during the 20th and 21st centuries, Russia waged 54 wars.
The next important reason for the war in Ukraine is the history of Ukraine, which the Russians are always trying to appropriate, especially the name “Kievan Rus”, but it has nothing to do with Russia, because such a name refers to the names of rivers with roots “ros” in the Dnieper basin. This type of war can be attributed to information. The ability to resist, to prove the facts, to prove one’s rightness, to concretize information causes aggression in people who do not have their own history, or rather will not have it, but are waging wars – the Russians.
The unity and achievements of Ukrainians is one of the things that most irritates the enemy. After all, these elements are interconnected, there would be no unity – there would be no achievements. The Russians were so outraged by the victory of the Kalush Orchestra (Ukraine) at Eurovision and Oleg Psyuk’s public request for help to the fighters on Azovstal that they intensified the shelling in all regions of Ukraine. This was the result of an insult that identifies Russians as underdeveloped individuals. It follows that at this level of development, the country and the people will always incite wars. When they realize the importance of peace and recognize that it is wisdom, only then will they be on the path to development.
