Natalia, Kyiv:
“We will lay our soul and body for the cherished freedom” – the line in our anthem, and it is in our DNA
“And will let no alien power in our common home” – today means a lot.
Marina, Ukraine:
That was the first time that I slept on bed. In normal room. Feels weird. People in my new place live such a normal life. They even have a fair here. Library is working. Also cafes. The only closed thing is a school. Feels kinda like another universe.
Anna, near Kiev:
My family and I live with my grandmother near Kiev. It is relatively quiet here, explosions are often heard, but they are far away. But we have very bad connection here. As for the emotional state, it’s hard to say. My brain is only now fully aware of all that is happening. All my close friends have left in different directions. I don’t know when we’ll see each other again, and it’s very hard. The soul hurts for our destroyed cities. Especially for Kharkiv. I was a frequent visitor there and even planned to move there. It is very painful to look at the completely destroyed buildings and even worse to understand how many innocent people died.
Dmytro, Kyiv:
Taking into account that russians are marauding along my village in Kyiv region now, leave civilians without food and even shoot them sometimes, personally I don’t think that it is neither genocide, nor terrorism. They are just criminals, nothing else.
Sasha, Ukraine:
I don’t know how to describe their attitude to us in a proper way, but I’m really sure that it is genocide towards us. Unfortunately, not the first one. Our country always has suffered from russia. I think it happens because of our freedom, democracy and the right of choice in all spheres of life. They are very jealous, rude and disrespectful people who can’t rejoice in the successes and achievements of others. In addition I want to say that it is unfair that throughout all our history, we must prove them that we are strong and independent nation.
Julia, Ukraine:
I think it is actually both genocide and terrorism. They want to destroy us physically and mentally, make us theirs silent slaves. That’s why they use methods of terror. And all those narratives about “helping Ukraine to get rid of Nazis” is a pure genocide to me.
