The essence of all the atrocities committed by the russians lies in their poor and unhappy existence, for the reason that happy and prosperous people will not go to kill their neighbours, even on orders
What influences our life, environment and lifestyle, or we initially have an idea of goodness religion claims that the idea of goodness and mercy is embedded in our subconscious by none other than God, and if we choose to do good or commit evil, this is our choice.
It could be very attractive and even painless to have a box in our mind where almighty god put the core we would value and follow the rules written in advance. Holy bible for sure exists written by wise people, but it was read in different way, as many people as many interpretations.
Therefore, I think that Being will determine Consciousness, how sad it does sound. A prosperous society is kind and merciful simply because people living in a secure and honest society have more opportunity to think about help and mercy, and not just think but implement it.
Undoubtedly in a totalitarian unfree society (russia or North Korea) there are people who understand what is happening, freaks according to the Strugatskys, but there are so few of them that they cannot influence the average person, humiliated and embittered.
Unfair and hopeless life gives rise to monsters who have shown themselves today by coming to Ukraine to commit war crimes.
By and large, their miserable existence gave rise to people’s cruel consciousness.
Yana Bereznyak:
Consciousness determines being more than being determines consciousness. Maybe, our inner world isn’t strong enough to influence the general reality, but we can at least affect the reality around us. We won’t keep close people who break our borders. We won’t buy the tea, which taste annoys us. We won’t agree with life that doesn’t make us happy. Furthermore, we have this little power to make our existence a bit safer, a bit clearer, a bit finer. We do as much as we are able to do. At least in our thoughts. That is power we should use.
Marina Yanovska:
In a peaceful time, consciousness determines being much more than being determines consciousness. But when it comes to wartime, being has much more influence on us. In the worst scenarios, when our homes are destroyed, or when we live under forever bombings, or when our town is occupied. We have no actual time to think about our comfort or worry about things, that we find unpleasant in normal circumstances. Our preferences, comfort, and opinions stopping being so important. The main thing and issue we have is to stay alive. Not hungry. And have all required medicines.
When it’s over 60 days of war, everything seems to be better (at least in my hometown). But I don’t think, I’ll ever forget the fear of not having an ability to get food, cause all the nearest shops are closed. It wasn’t all that bad, we didn’t starve or anything. However, during that period I couldn’t care less of what I like more, or what I want to eat. I didn’t care of what exactly I feel, cause for as long as I feel at least something, it’s already good.
Actually, I don’t think consciousness have too much of an influence on being during war.
Anastasia Kovalenko:
I think we can’t 100% be sure in each statement, both of them are equally right.
Our being determines our consciousness, the situations in which we went through, the knowledge that we got, information which we received, people around us – all of it have influence on us, changes the way we think and behave.
At the same time, consciousness of different people influence society environment in general and person itself, usually forming or correcting their own environment. Our mindset can do a lot, changing of mindset can change life, career depends on it, friends, family.
One person can influence the being of all world, still world has huge influence on every person.
Yaroslav Hrebto:
In my opinion consciousness determines being.
Usually others they say the opposite, but I do not agree with this. Being certainly exerts its influence on consciousness, but certainly is not a determining factor.
If you are poor and belong to the lower classes, then of course this can affect your political views, most likely you are a socialist, but not necessarily. It is also worth saying that if our being influences our political or social views, then it does not determine our goals in life, our ambitions, our world-view. If you communicate with people of different classes, you will see that their world-view is different. It is our consciousness that determines our being, where we will be, with whom we will be, and in what conditions.
Polina Kondratieva:
When a person have their own goals and targets, they always develop their mind and themselves, are interested in different processes and as a result they broaden their mind. So that person has a thirst to think logically and critically, so they want to have their own, independent opinion.
In that way, this behaviour will characterize the phrase “consciousness determine the being”. Because thanks to knowledge, intelligence and wisdom, the person I describe, will have their own plans and strong understanding about how to exist and live. And the main thing is that it will be really hard to have an influence on such a person. If a person has no goals, interests (educational processes), comparative skills and critical mind, so it will be really easy to make from them a marionette and a hostage of the situation, so when the “the being determines consciousness”.
Anastasia Dyagileva:
I think being and consciousness complement each other. Maybe being and consciousness are very close in meanings.
Being determine consciousness, because if we’re not in reality, if we don’t see our real world (I mean we’re always live in our dreams), we won’t understand this world, so we won’t be conscious. So that means that if we won’t try to be conscious, we won’t see our reality. We won’t see OUR life: who we are, what we like, what we don’t like etc.
Sophia Ilchuk, Tenerife:
I think that the problem “being determines consciousness or consciousness determines being” is paradoxical. on the one hand, we are the product of our socialization, that is, being. and then we can say that being determines consciousness. on the other hand, a person can improve itself, change its mentality, and build its life based on this mentality.
Volodymyr Ursulov:
The being determines the consciousness. There is a fine example of a divided Korea, where people of the same nationality live radically differently. Some have universal access to everything and live very well. And the second have complete despotism and poverty.
Marharyta Yanets, Berlin:
I am deeply convinced that consciousness determines being and not vice versa. By that, I mean our thoughts and emotions are in the zone of our control. As we know precisely our thoughts lead to actions. And that signifies our thoughts determine who we are, as well as our actions do. That’s why we need to take into account how we act with other people.
Nevertheless, in today’s time, social existence and external factors determine human consciousness too. Unfortunately, but it’s fact, the war has a hugely destructive effect on an individual’s brain.
Thus, later millions of people will feel the need to get psychological help.
Artem Sergeyan:
Personally, I think that consciousness and being are equal. And there is no something1 determines something, nor the other way around. Only harmony. Your actions are influencing your inner world, and at the same time your inner world influences your actions (or absence of action). To be happy inside and outside, you need to find a middle ground and try to balance.
